Function The Community Services Committee is responsible for recommending policy regarding the operation of Public Health including Public Health Programming, Central Resources, Family and Community Resources, Healthy Environments and Lifestyle Resources, Health Determinants & Planning, Communicable Disease, Dental & Sexuality Resources, and Emergency Medical Services; regarding the operation of Social Services including Social Planning, Policy and Program Administration, Sunnyside Home, Childrens Services, and Employment and Income Support; and regarding the operation of Planning, Housing and Community Services including Social Housing, Joseph Schneider Haus, Waterloo Region Museum and The McDougall Cottage.
Administrative History or Biography

The Community Services Committee was formed in 2001 and evolved from the former Health and Social Services Committee (1973-2000). The Community Services Committee was originally composed of seven Regional Councilors and the Regional Chair. In 2007, eight additional Councilors were added to the Committee to increase the total present membership to sixteen.

The responsibility for making recommendations regarding policy formulation, programs etc. for Joseph Schneider Haus and Doon Heritage Crossroads and reviewing archaeological issues and matters relating to Regional Forests was transferred from the former Planning and Culture Committee.
