Waterloo Regional Archives Project

Series consists of files generated by the Archives Committee of the Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation and Elizabeth Bloomfield, a contractor hired by the WRHF to complete the Waterloo Regional Archives Project. The idea for this study resulted from a meeting in May of 1989 with Ian Wilson, Archivist of Ontario and a number of archivists, librarians and municipal officials who were concerned with the future state of the archival resources within the Region of Waterloo.

The project examines the archival resources within the Region and assesses the present and future archival needs of the area. The first phase of the project was completed in March 1991 when Bloomfield submitted a report to the WRHF titled, "A Regional Archival System for Waterloo." The second phase was finished in August 1991 with the production of the "Waterloo Historical Society Bibliography." Phase three was completed in April 1992 with the publication of a "Bibliography of Waterloo County History to 1972." the records in this series consist of the letters, proposals, lists, meeting notices, agendas, minutes, research, questionnaires and reports that lead to the development of the publications mentioned above. Records are filed chronologically.
